New York-based electronic pop artist Will Sass has just released his highly anticipated single, "Into The Blue," featuring 2x Grammy-winning songwriter Kamille. Following his earlier tracks, "Alicia" (featuring Alvin Risk) and "Alibi" (with Ella Henderson and featuring Rudimental), this new release showcases Will Sass's signature infectious beat. "Into The Blue" effortlessly merges vibrant, pulsating rhythms with Kamille's smooth, powerhouse vocals, creating an atmospheric yet exhilarating track that's bound to captivate listeners. It’s perfect for letting loose on the dancefloor or vibing out in your room. We had the chance to catch up with Will to learn about the inspiration behind his new track and what he's been working on lately:

For your new single "Into The Blue" how did the collaboration with Kamille come to be? Why was this an important single for you to release?

I sent Kamille a collection of songs to check out and she liked them! After that, we met up in her studio, Metropolis Studios, in London, and wrote a bunch more songs together.

“Into The Blue” is a song that means the world to me. And the fact that Kamille believed in me enough to hop on my second single really means so much. Kamille’s energy is so contagious, and I’m so grateful to collaborate with someone who brings that spark to the studio. Her lyrics perfectly capture the feeling we were aiming for, and for me, that’s the pinnacle of songwriting—when the music and the mood are perfectly in sync.

Did anything in the writing process of "Into The Blue" differ from your previous projects?

It started with a simple room recording, capturing the atmosphere around me, which is often how I begin. As I added layers, I was inspired by the acid house movement that swept the UK in the late ‘80s and the nostalgic Ibiza vibes of the ‘90s. That blend of energy drove the song’s direction.

What draws you to electronic music and who/what inspires your work today?

If I had to list a few: The Blaze, SG Lewis, Mark Ronson, Kevin Parker and Jacque Lu Cont upon many more. I get inspired by anything I can sink my teeth into, it doesn’t have to just be electronic. I do love the intricacies of electronic music though, the way that tracks build, the energy you can give off, and the real life records and moments that can be sampled and buried in the track. I feel as if my inspirations in this genre use the medium as a way to express different textures and there’s a warmth to the records that I’m attracted to.

What do you hope listeners take away from "Into The Blue?"

Kamille says every time she hears it, it feels like an escape. I can’t say it better myself, I hope it makes everyone feel that way.

You have an EP coming up. What can you hint to us about that project?

So, I actually have 4 EPs ready to come out next year, which will be worked into an album at the end of 2025. There’s a lot of music coming, so stay tuned! A lot of collaborations/remixes /and alternative versions of my original tracks. I myself did two remixes for each original, which will come out on the deluxe versions of the EPs!

Do you gravitate more to playing shows or creating music?

When I play shows now, especially playing my own music and seeing the crowd’s reactions, I take that back into the studio and make changes to the mix. And now with new sessions, I definitely am thinking about the live show and what will move people.

What do you feel has been your biggest milestone this year?

Playing Brooklyn Mirage. Growing up in NYC that was always the hot spot for cutting edge dance and electronic acts and getting to take a stage that massive felt super inspiring and energizing.

How do you hope the music industry will keep evolving and changing?

I already feel people are craving more soul in records. I think the oversaturation of music being released each day has actually pushed people back into craving records with more depth.

What advice do you have for artists who are just starting out?

It took me a while to get to my first release. I spent a lot of time refining my craft. With modern-day technology, it’s become a lot easier with YouTube and Mix with the masters! And I would say make the most of what you have, you don’t need a lot of equipment to get started.  Listening to my favorite producers and artists speak and explain their processes and craft always helps and is inspiring. Also, every time I work with someone new, I pick up a new trick I add to my arsenal.
